1999 BMW 3 Series (E46)

Automobiles

1999 saw the arrival of two new body styles for the E46. The Touring wagon was produced from January 1999, and the convertible followed in December, joining the sedan and coupe. The Touring was built until May 2005, with 428,061 built, while the convertible lasted until November 2006. The range now covered four of the five planned bodies. The M3 was still a year away. The programme had begun in 1993 under chief engineer Wolfgang Ziebart and R&D head Wolfgang Reitzle.
