1930 BMW 3/15

Automobiles

The 3/15 DA-3 Wartburg, a sports roadster version of the 3/15 and BMW's first sports car, was introduced in 1930 at a time when the Great Depression had drastically reduced the market for sports cars. A drop centre front axle lowered the frame, and the compression ratio was raised from 5.6 to 1 to 7.0 to 1, raising maximum output to 18 PS at 3500 rpm. The Wartburg had a longer, narrower and much lower body than the DA-2 and DA-4 cars with the same wheelbase.
