Sales of the M2 CS began in March 2020, with 2,200 units planned, as the final high performance version of the F87 M2. The standard F22 coupe and F23 convertible were still produced in 2020, in their last full year before the arrival of the G42 coupe. The second generation was already being prepared for its reveal in the middle of 2021. The CS was the final and most extreme variant of the first generation M2, made in a limited number.
