From March 2019 all 2 Series models featured darkened rear lights, a small styling change for the aging F22 and F23. In November 2019 BMW revealed the M2 CS, a more extreme version of the F87 M2 with sales to begin in March 2020 and 2,200 units planned. The 2019 year also saw the front wheel drive 2 Series Gran Coupe revealed in October. The F22 and F23 were thus in their sixth year of production, and the end of the generation was near.
