BMW 02 Series (1600-2 and 2002)

The first 02 Series produced was the 1600-2, which made its debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1966, less well appointed than the New Class but lighter, faster and better handling. The larger displacement 2002 was directly derived from it in 1968 and would establish a new reputation for BMW as a maker of high quality affordable performance vehicles. A cabriolet by Baur followed in 1967. Its model years run from 1966 to 1971.
