The Weymann type fabric saloons followed the coupes in 1931, in the process of simplifying the wide range of body types that had been offered when the Sixteen was first sold. The 16 horsepower car could reach 60 miles an hour. By 1931 the car had lost its Light Six name, which had been dropped in 1930, and was known simply as the Austin Sixteen, the medium sized car of the Austin range. Few of the body styles of the first years remained by then.
