1984 Austin Montego

Automobiles

The Montego was launched on 25 April 1984, and it was the last car to be launched under the Austin marque. It would be produced alongside the Ital estate until that model was discontinued in August 1984. Development of the Montego, intended to succeed the Morris Marina and the Princess ranges, had begun in 1977 but the car was launched seven years later, after the Honda based Triumph Acclaim of 1981 had been introduced as a stop gap.
