In 1982 Carbodies, which had been building the FX4 for Austin and for Mann and Overton, took over the intellectual property of the cab when British Leyland lost interest, and produced it under its own name. Carbodies built it for only two years, until 1984, when London Taxis International took over the rights after Manganese Bronze Holdings bought Mann and Overton, and went on building it until 1997. Its model years run from 1982 to 1997.
