The A40 Farina was presented as a saloon at the London Motor Show in October 1958, intended to replace the Austin A35, from which it inherited much of its running gear. A de luxe version tested by the British magazine The Motor in 1958 had a top speed of 66.8 mph and could accelerate from 0 to 50 mph in 19.5 seconds. The all new design was by the Italian Battista Farina's studio in Turin. The A35 passenger car was replaced by it.
