The Mark III models were introduced in September 1971. The Morris badged 1100 and 1300 models were discontinued on the launch of the Morris Marina in 1971, but the Austin and Vanden Plas versions remained in production until June 1974. The ADO16 was Britain's best selling car from 1968 to 1971, before it was outsold by the Ford Cortina in 1972. The Mark III was the last version of the Austin 1300.
