The 2020 model year was the final one for the RLX, ended because the market was shifting to SUVs and crossovers. The TLX, similar in appearance but smaller, became Acura's flagship sedan afterward, and the 2021 TLX took the place of the quickest and best-handling sedan in the lineup. The Honda Legend that the RLX was based on continued in other markets until its end was announced for 2021, and the RLX itself had been marketed since the 2014 model year as the replacement for the RL.
