The Porsche-Diesel Standard 218, also known as N 218, was the third generation of the two-cylinder Standard tractor series, made by Porsche-Diesel Motorenbau GmbH in Friedrichshafen on Lake Constance. It succeeded the Porsche-Diesel 208 in 1957, and the Porsche plant built more than 12,000 of them between 1957 and 1963 in four variants, the base H with a six-speed gearbox and hydraulic clutch, the simplified V, the narrow gauge S and the switchable U. It has a frameless block construction, a live portal rear axle and drum brakes that can also steer, with steering gear and gearbox from ZF. Its engine is the air-cooled two-cylinder four-stroke diesel Porsche F 218 of 1,644 cc, rated at 25 PS, and a three-point linkage that lifts up to 550 kg and a mower bar were factory options. The body was painted carmine red.
