The X 2000 is a high-speed tilting train developed for the Swedish state railway operator SJ and built by the Swedish manufacturer ASEA, later part of Adtranz. Introduced into service in 1990, it was designed to run at higher speeds over the existing curved conventional rail lines in Sweden without building new dedicated high-speed track, using an active tilting mechanism that leans each carriage into curves to improve passenger comfort at speed. The X 2000 became one of the pioneering examples of tilting-train technology and has remained a flagship service on core intercity routes operated by SJ for decades.
