The Suzuki TL1000S was a V-twin roadster sport bike that Suzuki made from 1997 to 2001, often called the TLS. It is notable for its 90 degree V-twin engine, which is still used in Suzuki's SV1000 and V-Strom 1000, and Suzuki introduced it in 1997 to compete with the Ducati 916, although no factory or Suzuki-backed team ever raced it. The motor has hybrid chain and gear driven cams, was also the basis of the TL1000R, and was sold in numbers to Cagiva for the Navigator and V-Raptor and used by Bimota in the SB8K. Because a V-twin is long from front to rear, the rear damper was separated from the spring and used a rotary design that could overheat its oil and lose damping; the bike earned the nickname The Widowmaker, and Suzuki recalled it worldwide to fit a new damper.
