Suzuki Intruder

Motorcycles and Powered Two- and Three-Wheelers

The Suzuki Intruder is a series of cruiser motorcycles made by Suzuki from 1985 to 2005, all with four-stroke V-twin engines in the VS range. It began in North America as the Intruder 700 and Intruder 1400, actually a 1,360 cc machine; the small one was meant to escape the projected 45 percent US import tariff on larger bikes, but the tariff limit was set at 750 cc, so Suzuki raised it to a 750 and built that until 1991. For 1992 it became an 805 cc 800 with a larger engine, radiator and forks, a form it kept until 2004. For the 2005 model year Suzuki relaunched its cruisers as the Boulevard range, making the Intruder 800 and 1400 the Boulevard S50 and S83, while the Intruder name remains in use on some models in Europe.
