Suzuki GT250

Motorcycles and Powered Two- and Three-Wheelers

The Suzuki GT250, also known as the Suzuki Hustler in the United States, is a 247 cc, two stroke, twin cylinder motorcycle that Suzuki produced between 1971 and 1981. It was developed from the earlier T250 and was one of the best selling motorcycles in its class. For 1978 the bike was redesigned and sold as the GT250 X7, which could reach 100 mph in favourable conditions. The engine descended from the T20 of 1966, a 180 degree piston ported two stroke twin with alloy head and barrels, and in 1971 it gained the Ram Air cooling duct used on the GT380 and GT550, though it is debated whether that cooled the engine or was cosmetic. The 1976 revision added a fourth main bearing and two transfer ports, and the 1978 engine used dual induction with both piston porting and reed valves. The range ended in 1981 in favour of Suzuki four stroke models, and the X7 was developed into the RG250 Gamma.
