Suzuki GSX-R400

Motorcycles and Powered Two- and Three-Wheelers

The Suzuki GSX-R400 was a 400 class sport bike that Suzuki produced between 1984 and 1996. It was the first GSX-R model Suzuki ever made, a race replica evolution of the sport touring GSX series, and it was updated continuously, so there is a long run of different versions. Every GSX-R400 had a naturally aspirated, carburetted 398 cc four stroke inline four with four valves per cylinder and twin overhead camshafts, liquid cooled in all models and also air and oil cooled in some. The frame was always aluminium but its layout changed several times between twin spar and double cradle. The 1984 bike was released in Japan with 59 hp, the 1986 model was almost entirely redesigned with a shorter wheelbase and a new cooling system called SATCS, and a sports production version followed in 1988.
