SNCF Class CC 7100

The SNCF Class CC 7100 is a French electric locomotive that the national railway SNCF introduced in the early 1950s, built to haul express passenger trains on newly electrified main lines at speeds well beyond ordinary service. In March 1955, a specially prepared CC 7100 locomotive set a world rail speed record, one of two French electric locomotive designs to do so within days of each other that year, a milestone that helped demonstrate the practicality of high-speed electric rail travel.
