The Sikorsky X2 was an experimental high-speed compound helicopter with coaxial rotors that Sikorsky Aircraft developed on a 50 million dollar budget. It drew on the S-69 Advancing Blade Concept demonstrator, the Cypher unmanned coaxial aircraft and the composite rotors and transmission work of the RAH-66 Comanche. It first flew on 27 August 2008 at the Horseheads, New York, facility of Schweizer Aircraft, a Sikorsky division, and made its final flight on 14 July 2011, officially retiring after 22 hours over 23 test flights.
