Sikorsky S-33 Messenger

General Aviation and Light Aircraft

The Sikorsky S-33 Messenger was an American two-seat sesquiplane designed and built by the Sikorsky Manufacturing Corporation in 1925. Two examples were built. The first took part in the Sixth Pulitzer Trophy Race at Mitchel Field, Long Island, on 12 October 1925, piloted by Sikorsky employee Al Krapish. The first aircraft is reported to have used a 60-horsepower Wright Gale three-cylinder radial engine and the second a Lawrance L-3 of the same power, essentially the same engine type before and after Wright acquired Lawrance, although some sources assert that an Anzani engine was fitted.
