The Siemens S200 is a high-floor light rail vehicle made by Siemens Mobility at Florin, California, which began service in 2016. It succeeds the earlier Siemens high-floor models, the SD-100 and SD-160 and the SD-400 and SD-460, and its low-floor counterpart is the S700. Siemens designed it for the North American market and builds each one to the specification of the operator. Calgary Transit was the first customer, ordering 60 vehicles in 2013 for its CTrain network, which uses high platforms, and the fleet there reached 84. The San Francisco Municipal Railway was the second customer and its trains, which entered service on 17 November 2017, carry retractable stairs because Muni Metro mixes high platforms with street-level stops. All S200 vehicles are powered by direct current collected from overhead lines with a pantograph.
