The Shanghai Metro AC19, renamed 16A01 in 2014, is a type of passenger train operating on Line 16 of Shanghai Metro. It was manufactured by CSR Zhuzhou Locomotives and entered service in 2013. The order was for a total of 46 three-car trains, 138 cars in all, and AC09B and AC19 were the last rolling stock of Shanghai Metro to be named in the AC series. Each car has three doors per side. The interior has LCD screens on the windows and LED displays at the gangway connections that show the stations, the route and transfers of Line 16, and external side screens show the current destination and service type. Trainsets can be double-coupled as a six-car unit, and pantographs are only used while the train is in the depot or yard. The article calls the 16A01 the first rolling stock to use horizontal seats and selective door operation.
