RMS Andes was a 26,689 GRT steam turbine Royal Mail Ship, ocean liner, cruise ship and the flagship of the Royal Mail Lines fleet, the second Royal Mail ship named after the Andes. Harland and Wolff laid her keel at Belfast and launched her on 7 March 1939; her turbines were designed by Parsons and built by Harland and Wolff. She was completed at the outbreak of the Second World War, requisitioned by the Admiralty as a troop ship for about 4,000 troops, and broke three long-distance speed records in that role. She entered civilian service in 1948 on the Southampton, Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires route, later made cruises, and was scrapped at Ghent in 1971.
