Renault TRM 4000

The TRM 4000 is a French light truck (4x4) from Renault Trucks, intended above all for carrying military loads. When production began in 1973 at Blainville-sur-Orne in France, it was assumed that the TRM 4000 would become the standard truck of its class; 15,000 vehicles were to be made in all, but production was stopped in the 1980s at about half. It was exported only in small numbers to unnamed North African states. The TRM 4000 was essentially the military version of the civil Saviem SM8 truck of the Saviem company of the time, and the two versions share components such as the gearbox, chassis and axles. The conventional design is defined by the two-door Saviem/Renault type 812 cab, and the normal version is a flatbed, with other versions in use with the French armed forces. It has a 6-cylinder MAN-Saviem 797-18 diesel engine of 5.5 litres with 133 PS (98 kW) at 2,900 rpm, a road speed of 85 to 90 km/h, a range of 800 km, a fording depth of 0.9 m and an empty weight of 4.66 tonnes.
