Queen Elizabeth-class battleship

Marine Vehicles

The Queen Elizabeth class was a group of five dreadnought battleships built for the Royal Navy in the 1910s and the first fast battleships of their day. They were the first battleships armed with 15-inch guns and were judged by Jane Fighting Ships of 1919 to be the most successful type of capital ship yet designed. They served in both world wars, Barham was lost to a U-boat in 1941, and the others were scrapped in the late 1940s. The five were built at different yards, and HMS Valiant was launched on 4 November 1914 by the Fairfield Shipbuilding and Engineering Company at Govan.
