Piper PA-7 Skycoupe

General Aviation and Light Aircraft

The Piper PA-7 Skycoupe was a 1940s American two-seat light aircraft that Piper designed and built at Lock Haven. It began as the PWA-1 Skycoupe, one of the post-war airplanes Piper announced towards the end of 1944. The prototype, built in 1943, was a two-seat side-by-side low-wing cantilever monoplane with a twin-boom fuselage, a tricycle landing gear and a Franklin 4ACG-199-H3 engine of 113 horsepower driving a pusher propeller. It spanned 30 feet and had a gross weight of 1,597 pounds, with a maximum speed of 110 miles per hour. The type was redesignated PA-7 in 1945, but no further examples were built.
