Piper PA-44 Seminole

General Aviation and Light Aircraft

The Piper PA-44 Seminole is an American twin-engined light aircraft developed from the single-engined Cherokee and used mainly for multi-engine flight training. The first prototype made its maiden flight in May 1976, the type was announced on 21 February 1978 and certified on 10 March 1978, and it went on sale as a 1979 model. Its right-hand engine turns the opposite way to the left, which removes the critical engine and makes engine-out handling more forgiving, and it has a high T-tail. A turbocharged PA-44-180T followed in 1979. Production ran from 1979 to 1982, again from 1989 to 1990, and continuously since 1995.
