Piper PA-32R Lance and Saratoga

General Aviation and Light Aircraft

The Piper PA-32R is a six- or seven-seat, high-performance, single-engine, all-metal, fixed-wing aircraft built by Piper at Vero Beach, Florida. It began as the Piper Lance, a retractable-gear version of the Cherokee Six that Piper developed after the 1972 flood destroyed the Comanche line, and later models were called the Saratoga. The Saratoga gained a tapered wing in place of the Lance Hershey bar wing. Embraer built it under licence in Brazil as the EMB-721 Sertanejo, and kits went to Chincul in Argentina. Only the turbocharged Saratoga II TC remained by 2008, and production of all PA-32 models ended in 2009.
