Piper PA-20 Pacer and PA-22 Tri-Pacer

General Aviation and Light Aircraft

The Piper PA-20 Pacer and PA-22 Tri-Pacer, together with the Caribbean and Colt, form an American family of light strut-braced high-wing monoplanes that Piper built from 1949 to 1964. The Pacer is a four-place tailwheel aircraft derived from the two-place PA-17 Vagabond, the Tri-Pacer added a nosewheel from 1951, and the Colt was a two-seat trainer version introduced in 1960. They were the first post-war Pipers with flaps and a control yoke, and are known as short wing Pipers. More than 9,400 Tri-Pacers were built, and the last Colt was completed on 26 March 1964 before the Cherokee replaced the family on the Vero Beach line.
