An ox cart is a two or four wheeled vehicle pulled by oxen, used since antiquity across many agrarian societies worldwide to haul crops, goods and building materials over roads too rough or undeveloped for wheeled vehicles pulled by faster but less powerful animals. Its low cost, durability and the widespread availability of draft oxen made it one of the most common forms of overland cargo transport in rural regions well into the twentieth century, and it remains in everyday use in parts of South Asia, Africa and Latin America.
