MV Anonity

Cargo and Merchant Vessels

MV Anonity was a small British coastal tanker of 890 gross register tons. She was built by A. and J. Inglis of Glasgow, launched on 30 April 1945 as yard number 1300 and completed that August for the wartime Ministry of War Transport, under the name Empire Campden. Sold in 1947 to F. T. Everard and Company of London, she was renamed Anonity and traded for them until 1966. Greek owners then bought her, renaming her Petrola II and, from 1969, Kalymnos. She carried her cargo on a hull about 58.8 metres long and was driven by a four-cylinder, two-stroke single-acting diesel engine built by British Polar Engines of Glasgow, giving about nine knots. She ran aground off Rhodes on 12 April 1970, was declared a constructive total loss, was refloated and towed to Piraeus, and was sold for scrap that May.
