The MD 600N is a light utility civilian helicopter designed in the United States as an eight-seat stretched development of the five-seat MD 520N. McDonnell Douglas Helicopter Systems announced it in late 1994 as the MD 630N, and the prototype, a modified MD 530F, first flew on 22 November 1994. The production aircraft was approved and renamed MD 600N in March 1995. The company lengthened the fuselage with a plug behind the cabin bulkhead and a longer NOTAR tail boom, which allows an extra middle row of seats, and gave it a new six-blade main rotor and an uprated Allison, now Rolls-Royce, Model 250 turboshaft. Further development has since been suspended and certification delayed indefinitely.
