The Maruti Suzuki Wagon R is a city car and mini MPV that Suzuki builds and sells through its Indian subsidiary Maruti Suzuki, mainly for the Indian market. It was launched in India on 18 December 1999, based on the Wagon R kei car sold in Japan, as an answer to the newly arrived Hyundai Santro. The second generation, introduced on 23 April 2010, also gave rise to the Karimun Wagon R for Indonesia and the Wagon R sold in Pakistan. The third generation, launched on 23 January 2019, is built on the HEARTECT platform and is larger than the Japanese Wagon R. By December 2024 more than 3.2 million had been sold in India, and it was the best-selling car in India in 2021 and 2022.
