The M915 is a 6x4 line-haul tractor unit used by the United States Army, and the namesake of a series of trucks that includes the M916 light equipment transporter tractor, the M917 dump truck, the M918 bituminous distributor, the M919 concrete mixer and the M920 medium equipment transporter tractor. It is a commercial-type truck with no driven front axle, meant for improved roads rather than tactical use. The original M915 and the M915A1 were a Crane Carrier Company design based on that firm's Centaur commercial tractor, built under contract by AM General between 1978 and 1982. The 1990 M915A2 was a different truck, designed by Freightliner with another engine, transmission, hood and cab.
