The Lola Mk6 GT was a racing car built between 1962 and 1963 by the British car manufacturer Lola Cars, with a production run of only three vehicles. It used a 289 cubic inch (4.74 litre) Ford V8 engine mounted behind the driver. Following the ideas of John Tojeiro in his 1962 Buick-engined EE, the Mk6 GT was the next mid-mounted, high-displacement V8 Grand Touring car, a layout that until then had been used only on formula cars and on smaller, more affordable GTs. Ford took a keen interest in the design, and Lola founder Eric Broadley later merged his ideas with Roy Lunn's work, which gave rise to the Ford GT40.
