The Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor is an American twin engine stealth fighter aircraft that entered United States Air Force service in 2005, combining low radar observability with supersonic cruise capability and advanced sensor and avionics systems. Developed as an air superiority fighter during the late Cold War and 1990s, it was built in limited numbers and never exported, remaining one of the most capable air combat aircraft in service.
