Kawasaki KLR650

Motorcycles and Powered Two- and Three-Wheelers

The Kawasaki KLR650 is a 652 cc dual-sport motorcycle meant for both road and off-road riding, introduced in 1987 to replace the 564 cc KLR600. It uses a four-stroke, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine with double overhead camshafts and dual counterbalancers. The first generation stayed almost unchanged until the 2008 model, which was its first significant redesign, and a second redesign in 2022 added electronic fuel injection and anti-lock brakes. Variants have included the Tengai with Dakar-style fairing and a more dirt-oriented C model, and the United States military has used diesel-converted versions. It is widely used as an inexpensive adventure and touring bike, and riders have taken it on intercontinental and round-the-world journeys.
