A converted T-2 tanker ship that, on 26 April 1956, carried 58 standardized truck trailer bodies as deck cargo from Newark, New Jersey to Houston, Texas. Organized by the trucking entrepreneur Malcom McLean, it was the first successful commercial voyage to carry cargo in standardized containers rather than loose crates and sacks, launching the modern container shipping industry.
