The Hyundai Trajet was a seven-seater multi-purpose vehicle that Hyundai Motor Company manufactured between 1999 and 2008. The series was launched in 1999 with a choice of gasoline, diesel or LPG fuel. Sales began in South Korea in spring 1999, where it was marketed as the Trajet XG to align it with the more luxurious Grandeur XG that shared its platform, and the United Kingdom premiere was at the London Motorfair in October 1999, with European sales from spring 2000. Initially only the 2.0 litre GSI was sold in the United Kingdom, and a limited-edition SE with a 2.7 litre V6 engine was added in 2001; the European 2.0 litre Sirius II petrol engine made 139 PS and a claimed top speed of 178 km/h with the five-speed manual gearbox. The name comes from the French word for journey, and reviewers criticised the long gearing of the petrol four while noting its benefit at the fuel pump.
