The Hyundai Tiburon, sold in Europe and some other markets as the Hyundai Coupe, was a front-wheel-drive sports coupe that Hyundai produced from 1996 to 2008. The name is a variation of the Spanish word for shark and was used in North America, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and Austria, while the South Korean home market knew it as the Turbulence and then the Tuscani. It was built in two generations, the RD that began production in late 1996 as a 1997 model and the GK introduced in 2002 as a 2003 model, each with periodic facelifts. The first generation took design cues from the HCD-II Epoch concept shown at the 1993 Detroit Auto Show, and Hyundai's entry into the Formula 2 World Rally Championship produced the F2 and F2 Evolution special editions in the United Kingdom. The Hyundai Veloster replaced the Tiburon after production ended in 2008.
