Honda made the CB550 from 1974 to 1978, a standard motorcycle of 544 cc. It has a four-cylinder SOHC air-cooled wet sump engine. The first version, the CB550K, was a development of the earlier CB500, and like its predecessor had four exhaust pipes, four silencers and wire-spoked wheels. It shared some visual similarities with the CB750 and fit into Honda's four-cylinder range as its mid-capacity bike. A second version, the CB550F Super Sport, was offered from 1975 to 1977, and the CB550 was replaced in 1979 by the broadly similar Honda CB650. This site lists a page for every model year in the span covered here, each focused on what changed in that year, grouped into one generation: the single generation (1974 to 1978 model years). Each year page links to its generation, to this model page, to the previous model year and to Honda.
