Grumman Gulfstream II

General Aviation and Light Aircraft

The Gulfstream II is a twin-engine, swept-wing business jet designed and first built by Grumman, and later marketed under the Grumman American and Gulfstream American names. It followed the turboprop Gulfstream I and is powered by two aft-mounted Rolls-Royce Spey turbofans, chosen for high speed and long range without giving up airport performance. The first prototype flew from Bethpage on 2 October 1966 on a 52-minute maiden flight. Aircraft were built as green aircraft and delivered to a completion centre for their interiors and avionics, and production ended at Savannah in December 1979. The Gulfstream III succeeded it.
