The Grumman American AA-5 Tiger is an American light aircraft originally developed by American Aviation Corporation and later produced under the Grumman American and Gulfstream American names, first flown in the early 1970s. Distinguished from most light aircraft of its era by a bonded aluminum honeycomb structure built with adhesives rather than the riveted sheet-metal construction typical of contemporaries such as Cessna and Piper designs, the AA-5 family was sold in several variants of differing engine power, with the higher-performance Tiger variant becoming the best known of the line.
