A ghanjah, also spelled ganja, is a large wooden trading dhow of the traditional Arabian Gulf and Indian Ocean sailing trade, distinguished by a high, ornately carved stern reminiscent of European galleons. Built mainly in shipyards along the coasts of the Gulf and western India, ghanjah vessels were used for long-distance cargo voyages across the Indian Ocean before engine-powered shipping displaced sail trade in the region.
