GE PowerHaul

Diesel and Electric Locomotives

The GE PowerHaul is a class of mainline diesel-electric locomotives designed by General Electric. Freightliner ordered thirty in 2007 and the first was completed in July 2009 at GE's Erie, Pennsylvania, plant. The Turkish manufacturer Tulomsas has an agreement with GE to produce PowerHaul locomotives for European, African and Middle Eastern markets, and UGL Rail announced a narrow gauge version in 2011. Three main subclasses exist, the PH37ACmi for UK railways, the PH37ACi for mainland Europe and the PH37ACmai for 3 foot 6 inch gauge lines, with versions including the Class 70 of Freightliner, the DE36000 of Turkish State Railways and the Korail Class 7600. It is a six-axle Co-Co design for heavy freight.
