The GE E25B is a class of four-axle, 4,000 horsepower B-B electric locomotives that General Electric made in 1976 and 1977. Only seven were built, all for Texas Utilities on two short industrial freight lines. It was similar to the more powerful E60 and was designed to haul coal between mines and power plants. It operated on 25 kilovolt AC at 60 hertz at up to 70 miles per hour, though normal use was half that speed, and it was lighter and less powerful than the E60. The seven served the Martin Lake Line and the Monticello Line, running shuttle trains in push-pull configuration, and were replaced in 1999 by former Mexican E60 locomotives.
