GE Dash 8-41CW

Diesel and Electric Locomotives

The Dash 8-41CW, also written C41-8W, is a variation of the Dash 8-40CW in which the same 16-cylinder engine is uprated to 4,135 horsepower. A total of 154 were produced in 1993 and 1994 for Union Pacific and the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway, and some railroads also uprated existing Dash 8-40CW units to Dash 8-41CW standard. It is a six-axle model of GE's Dash 8 Series of diesel-electric freight locomotives, which use a GE 7FDL turbocharged four-stroke diesel engine, direct current traction motors and a C-C wheel arrangement.
