The GE 70-ton switcher is a four-axle diesel-electric locomotive of B-B type that General Electric built between about 1942 and 1955. The first series of 70-tonners was a group of seven center-cab locomotives built for the New York Central Railroad in November 1942, which differ from the later end-cab versions. Locomotives exported to Brazil were known as the GE 64T and nicknamed scooters. Many survive in preservation, including Rahway Valley numbers 16 and 17, Southern Pacific numbers 5100, 5103 and 5119, and Baltimore and Annapolis number 50 at the B and O Railroad Museum. Only one of the center-cab locomotives exists, the former Ellwood Engineered Castings 6114B in Youngstown, Ohio.
