The Fokker F28 Fellowship is a twin-engined, short-range jet airliner built by the Dutch manufacturer Fokker as the turbofan-powered successor to its successful F27 Friendship turboprop, formally launched in April 1962 to compete against the Douglas DC-9 and BAC One-Eleven for the commuter jet market. The prototype first flew on 9 May 1967 and the aircraft entered service with Braathens in March 1969, initially seating 65 passengers, a figure market research pushed up from an original 50-seat plan, and later variants stretched capacity to 85 seats. Fokker built 241 F28s between 1967 and 1987.
