Fiat Croma

The Fiat Croma name was used for two different large family cars from Fiat. The first, Type 154, was a five-door notchback liftback styled by Giorgetto Giugiaro of Italdesign on the Type Four platform that it shared with the Saab 9000, Lancia Thema and Alfa Romeo 164. Sold from December 1985 to 1996, it replaced the Argenta and was Fiat's first large car with a transverse engine and front-wheel drive, with facelifts in 1988, 1991 and 1993. Its petrol engines mostly came from Fiat's Twin Cam family, with an Alfa Romeo V6 in some markets, and it also had diesels. After a nine-year gap the name returned from 2004 to 2010 on a crossover station wagon. When the first Croma ended, Fiat left the large family car segment, and the Marea took its place in the range.
